I have a ? , when i got my truck it had very little weather stripping ...i have replaced everything that i can but this bugs me ...i installed the outer horizontal window rubber wiper.(the one that goes in the slot).boy it sure isnt very water tight at the ends , and looks like no matter what rain will enter the inside of the doors ,is this juts how they made them ?? and why the weep holes in the bottom of the door are so large ??

That’s just the way they made them. That rubber is more there just to help the window from rattling. That was a good thing that they made the weep holes that big so they stay open from degree

What you are witnessing is technology 50 years ago, a time when trucks were glorified workhorses not some sissy thing you drove to the country club. That rubber strip is an anti-rattle device and the holes are what's kept the bottoms of the doors from rusting through all these years. Water isn't so much the problem as water that doesn't evaporate in a reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately, they didn't consider that rubber seal at the bottom which has held water against the inner panel and caused that to rust.

So, one win and one loss. Such is the joy of owning an old vehicle.

THANKS for the info , I guess Ill put a little xtra brush on Rustoleum paint along the inside of the doors at the bottom ..for a little more protection against any water that hangs around on a few days long rain.
