#36878 06/16/2003 7:14 AM | Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 34 Member | | Member Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 34 | Messing around with Ruby(my 1 ton panel)today and noticed that my rear tires seemed to fill their respective fender wells differently. I got out a tape measure and checked the diameter of the tires and found that one was 28.5" and the other was 29.0"! Both are Michelin 265/75/R16 same markings,same type. Who woulda thunk it!!
Swapped the spare(29.0") for the 28.5" and got rid of a persistant differential whine. I thought that tires with the same stated size would be the same actual size. These weren't cheap tires, so if you have a pesky, peristant rearend noise, it may not be gas... check your tire sizes with a tape. | | |

Since we didn't have (and could no longer get) the same tires that the customer had we upgraded them and replaced the tires for free.

They were supposedly take-offs with only a couple thousand miles on them. ( tire pressures were the same) However, I now sense a plot against AD trucks. I have discovered that they were originally on a F**d truck! I guess they are safe now but I WILL be watching them for any further attacks! | | |

I blew two of the new tires and the dealer was never able to get me any that matched the originals. All the new ones were 1" amaller diameter and my trailer had a nice tilt to the right. I solved the problem by blowing the other two, now it is nice and level.
