The person who I am buying it from says that the truck ONLY needs the carb to be rebuilt and a new battery before it will run. I was wondering if there was some way I could get the thing to run without rebuilding the carb. I just want to hear the thing run I dont mean drive

You can possibly make it run with the carb that is there. . I would be sure to look /test the brakes as they are prone to loosing fluid if sitting a long time. Does this truck have the original 9-foot bed on it?

It is better to hear it running before rebuilding the carb because if someone has been there before you and messed it up, it will be obvious.

if it dosen't need fixed, break it

If so, carefully take the horn of the top (without tearing the gasket) and rinse the carb out with solvent or gas. Reassemble and see if it will start then. I get the feeling this guy is blowing smoke, and it ain't up your leg.

My first truck was a 55.1 3800. Wish someone would of told me that before starting. But atleast it gave me reason to buy parts. 3 bent push rods, 1 bent valve. Eithor remove valve cover and lightly tap on valves for movement, or try to turn the motor my hand.

And when I posted Prime Prime Prime, I hope you all knew that I meant Prime hit the starter, Prime hit the starter, Prime hit the starter, Not just sit there and poor gas down the carb!!!
So what happend tmack?
