I can't find any new ones for sale, in LMC for instance. Is there a thermostat housing off a later engine that will fit? I'm talking about the part that bolts on over the thermostat and has the outlet for connecting the upper radiator hose. Both of mine are severely corroded.

For a temporary fix on a Buick i had years ago, I cleaned the inside of the housing real well, mixed up some J-B Weld and wiped a layer of it around the inside with my finger. It bought me time till i could find the right housing. Actually, since it was "fixed" i drove the car for another 6 months till i replaced the housing.

Theirs a salvage yard not to far from you that should have a boat load of thermostat housings. Its on the south side of 60 going toward Mountian Grove, sorry can't remember the name of the yard.

I'd check at NAPA, or any FLAPS. It's surprising how many parts for the 235 are still available over the counter.

Its been a while since I had a 250, but I could have sworn the water neck from an early 250 fits a 235 as well.

I bought a new one from NAPA. They have a catalog for those things and they ordered it for me.

The last two times I've tried to buy from him he said he's out of business. I wonder what he's planning to do with all those dead cars. I did a walk through several years ago and he has a bunch of big block Chevy V-8s, and a beautiful '55 GMC that he won't sell except as parts.

Thanks to all. Things aren't bad enough for JB Weld yet, but close. I'll try NAPA, but, unfortunately, the nearest NAPA store is 30 or so miles away.

You should be able to find one for a 235 from a 62 chevy pickup at the parts store. It will fit but you might have to change the size of your radiator hose - been too long since I changed mine out that I can't remember.

Any parts srore should have it available. The same one fits practically everything. Just get the outlet direction to match. There are some nice heavy crome plated ones available in the custom parts lines. Some even swivel to get the right direction.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

This is almost what I need, except I don't need the bottom part. That seems to be in good shape. The neck that the radiator hose attaches to is severely corroded. I'm watching the EBay listing, though.

Thanks.

I looked at that chrome one on ebay a while back. It doesn't have provisions for a thermostat. That particular thermostat housing is worthless. There are some really nice chrome ones available.

Auto parts suppliers should be able to order you one.Why not clean up a good used one ?
