Have many plans I want to do over the next 1-2 years. I am doing a retro mod and have a few Questions. I have decided on replacing the front end to a Heidts Mustang 2 and looking at a 4 link coil over for the rear but need to know what differencial will go on this truck. Already have a 350 and a Turbo 400 Tranny for it. Also what sizes of tires and rims have you had sucess with 16-17-18. Thanks Robin | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 677 | First of all Welcome to the Bolt !! I went with a Heidts IFS on my 1951 3100 and I love it... It was a pretty cool install, and Im running 18"s with 235/40/ZR18 Toyo tires I think they worked out and look pretty cool as far as the rear end I went with a 1980 Trans Am with stock disc brakes but Im not sure on the gearing ??? Some people are like Slinkies, Their not really good for nothing... But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs. 1951 3100 350 TBI Gallery Toddzilla... I dont want to over kill the size of my tires and wasnt sure what would be a good fit I was thinking 20's at first but decide to big Your size looks bang on. Thanks for the help. You stuck with the stock rear end suspention I see think handling and traction will be good? If the truck is subject to heavy duty, or if you are putting a pretty decent engine in it, then you might want to go with a Ford 9 inch, Chevy 12-bolt, or maybe even a Dana 60 if you want ultimate strength. If it's just a street cruiser, not subject to heavy towing or heavy duty, then save some money and grab yourself a Chevy 10-bolt out of either a 70's or 80's F-body. The 80's F-bodies used a cone-type posi, which works extremely well but is non-rebuildable. That just means you buy a new one when the diff is rebuilt. So no biggie.
