Does anyone know if there is a repop/stamping of the 54/55 grille top bar without the "CHEVROLET" stamped into it?

That, or can anyone suggest how we can remov/fill-in the lettering on a standard grille top piece so that it can be chromed after the modifications?

Sorry if I offended anyone, but we are working on a custom 54 truck and would like to preserve the unique 54 look but remove all external badging.

Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas,
I have never seen a top grill bar without the letters stamped in it but you could always fill them with body filler and then add whatever you want to put on it. What did you have in mind? Something Odd like "Pontiac? grin

In order to chrome it ,you will have to revert to old school methods and shrink and metal finish it.you can't chrome over body filler.Any filling you may have to do can be done with brazing rod.
Good luck finding a body man who knows how.

I have two grills one with and one without, body filler works if you just want to paint it. Guess you could cut out the script and carefully weld in a new panel.

LOL, "something odd". smile Since we are cloning the 54 to a "Pontiac" truck, I had just wanted to remove the CHEVROLET badging. Nothing spectacular.

I've often thought about the brazing in the lettering and then chroming on top of it, but I am not brazing expert.

If anyone else comes up with some good ideas, lemme know, I'm open to suggestions.
