That, or can anyone suggest how we can remov/fill-in the lettering on a standard grille top piece so that it can be chromed after the modifications?
Sorry if I offended anyone, but we are working on a custom 54 truck and would like to preserve the unique 54 look but remove all external badging.
Thanks, Thomas

What did you have in mind? Something Odd like "Pontiac? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 80 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 80 | In order to chrome it ,you will have to revert to old school methods and shrink and metal finish it.you can't chrome over body filler.Any filling you may have to do can be done with brazing rod. Good luck finding a body man who knows how. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 | i would assume that a quality plating shop would be able to fill those for you.........dave 1949 Chevrolet 3100 "When this thing hits 88 miles an hour, you're going to see some serious sh%t." -Doc Brown

Since we are cloning the 54 to a "Pontiac" truck, I had just wanted to remove the CHEVROLET badging. Nothing spectacular. I've often thought about the brazing in the lettering and then chroming on top of it, but I am not brazing expert. If anyone else comes up with some good ideas, lemme know, I'm open to suggestions. | | |
