I have a chance to pick up a '90 Merc Couger for free. Does anyone know if the front suspension is similer to a mustang II and if it is something that could be used under my '53 half ton? Thanks Don

If the '90 is the same as a '93, no it is not the same.

It's an IFS but it won't make a U turn in the alley.

Not the same. It's a modified strut suspension, no upper control arm. All Fox platform cars ('79-93 'Stang, T-Bird, Cougar, Bobcat, Fairmount/LTD, Marquis) all use the same suspension. What you need to look for is the '74-'78 Mustang or the '71-'79 Pinto for the correct suspension. Also, the Maverick and Comet use that suspension. Would probably be easier/cheaper to get an aftermarket crossmember than try to hunt one of those cars. You'll get a better part that way.
