Hey, I have that site booked marked and that's been on there for awhile. I almost got a '49 4400 in GREAT SHAPE for $1600 less than 40 miles from where I live. Then one day I got on there and it was GONE. I couldn't even find out from the site if it was sold or the page that the guy paid for had expired.

Well that's a very nice fire truck, but if you have an orchard that needs watering check out this 1955 Pirsch behemoth on eBay (an 817 cubic inch engine!).

Rich/Bill -- Nice looking truck!! A little out of my price range for a truck with only a 500-gallon tank, though.

Shoot, the way I figure it at the moment, little Ava has 6 trucks that are hers! That Pirsch is kinda cool, though wink

It is a nice looking truck, but the backing panel behind the grille needs to be painted the same color or the truck. The white paint just don't look right on a GMC.

Wouldn't mind having the truck myself, but have too many projects in front of it along with garage space shortages.

Will make a nice truck for somebody tho.

That is a nice looking truck. Paint Bank Va fire department recently sold a 1969 GMC tanker. 1250 gal tank. It would have required CDL license. It had a Hale pump and one of the men said the pump was about worn out.

I was following that sale a little bit. Saw that it was a '69 8500 Model and was told it has a 401 V-6. I would had like to check out the truck and put in a bid, but ran short of time. Do you know where the truck went and what it sold for?

I have not heard where it went or what it sold for. If I can find out I will let you know.

John, Bill, And Rich We have that same pumper body on our old 1950 Ford F-7 The body was manufactured by the American Fire Apparatus Company. That particular body appeared to be very popular. That unit is still owned by the department today and is going through a restoration. It can be viewed at www.mvfd.com

Mike,

Beautiful looking truck. Just about my favorite old Ford, '48 to '50 F-Series.

Mike,
VERY nice job on the Ford truck! Two quick questions- 1. Did that truck have an engine upgrade at some point? I would have expected a flathead. And 2. Did you eliminate the chrome grill in favor of a painted one? Or is the chrome one just not done yet? Just curious.

Thanks all, The chrome pieces are in the process of being redone to go back on the grill. The original flathead if I remember the story was not in the unit but a few years or so and then it was replaced by the 390(I think thats whats in there). The original motor had to be replaced after something catastrophic happened to it. The motor that is in it now had to be found and installed in another members garage because of the company not having the monetary support it has these days. That motor there has been a very dependable motor and very quick.
