Let me add this. Most conventional regulators are relieving types. There is usually a hole in the body below the diaphragm that exits to atmosphere. If this is where it's leaking, cycle the regulator several times from 0 to 120 or whatever its limits are. This might cure the problem.
If the bowls have O-rings sealing them, make sure they aren't crimped or mashed and that the bowl is on tight and seated.
I have found that most of the time the Harbor Freight stuff is assembled poorly (from the factory) and this is the root of most of the problems.

Harbor Freight Tools that have made the grade.I broke my first Harbor Freight tool this year - a 12 year old soft-headed hammer. I was abusing it. That makes it 1:100(or more) failure:purchase ratio. Don't buy the cheap looking tools from Harbor Freight and you'll be OK. I had a leaking HF water separator and it was as Stuart and others suggested. The gasket/seal/o-ring had slipped out of place. It works fine now. Tim PS: Since 80% or more tools come from China, let's not simply blame the country of origin. Sometimes you get what you pay for; sometimes you're simply paying for a brand name; sometimes a good brand name has been earned on a record of quality (and is worth a higher price). | | |
