I thought that I had seen a post similar to this, but I must be blind, because I couldn't find it. Either way, I was just curious on everyone's opinion on whether the ADs look better being solid or metallic. I'm thinking about going with a nice steel blue color, but not sure whether I want it to be an effect or not. Any and all opinions are much appreciated. grinThanks!!!

Metallics give you a bit more "bling" but IMHO they also require more work to keep looking good. Just depends on what you want.

I agree that the metallics offer more "bling"- especially with mags. However I would like to continue to use my truck as a truck. I think that when there are any dings that result, a solid, or single stage paint will be easier to repair and match. So it also depends upon what you will be doing with your truck.

I've always liked non-metallic colors on ADs. It just seems more...uh...natural!

Use a solid color if you're going for an original look. The metallics look better on a custom "hot rod" truck.

Thanks for your opinions guys!! I mixed up a custom color on Friday, and took it down to the shop to "test" it out. It actually looks really good (except that my truck now has splotches all over it). I think I'm going to take a little bit and add some pearl, and then with a different sample, add some metallic. I am leaning more towards a solid, but at least this way I know what all of my options look like.

I saw an amazing Metallic gold AD truck last summer with metallic brown fenders. It must have been House of Kolors candy because it was so beautiful. What makes the AD trucks so nice with metallics are their curves, which catch the sun no matter where you're standing.

A good solid paint job is nice too, but I think metallic would look better, if done right.

Alright guys. I think I have a dilema. I originally thought that I'd be going with a solid dark steel blue on my '50, but now I'm not sure. My other option is a dark metallic almost pewter color. It's a really nice deep color, but it's an effect. On top of that, the more I look at my girl, I can't imagine seeing her being anything other than the original black that she still has. HELP!!!!! Opinions are much needed!!!! Please!!???
