What's the deal with the side motor mounts? I understand that the later 235's no longer have the bracket by the timing cover that was can be drilled to use the '51's engine mounts.
How does one put one of these late 235's in an '51 frame? Do you have to buy a motor mount? Do you use the side mounts?

The 235 probably has the lip on the front mount. They didn't stop drilling and tapping the 235 front mount holes until 63'. At any rate, you can swap front plates with any 216,235,261, or GMC 228/248/270/302. It was the later GMC's with the horseshoe mount that don't have the lip at all.
