Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 | Today I found a 250 L6, (no way it could be a 292,) with what appears to be a progressive 2 barrel that sits 90 degrees to the crankshaft axis and split exhaust!
The whole package appears to be factory, right down to the air cleaner!
The exhaust is a front3 / back 3 setup with rough casting marks showing. The head and intake are one piece.
The owner saved it out of a wrecked 1979 C-10 in 1983. It has been in dry storage and is not stuck. He says it is just the way he got it.
I would really like to know more about this engine. Does anyone recognize it from my poor description?

My Dad had a couple of them for work trucks and what I remember is they worked ok. We put dual exhaust on one of them, sounded good but didn't change performance or economy at all. I remember putting a head gasket in a few integral head motors years ago. Lots of vacuum hoses and emissions stuff on them. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 26 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 26 | I'd be interested to see pictures of this engine if you care to post some. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 841 | i've seen several of them. it may be best to steer clear unless you want just the lower end. you can always change them out. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 135 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 135 | I had a 79 GMC Van with this setup. Ditto to comment on lots of emissions crap. I had some carb trouble and some burnt valves, so I put an earlier head and it ran pretty good. | | |
