Will 55-59 axel interchange 47-54 1/2tons? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 | No. The springs on the 47-54 run kinda tow in... that is they mount closer together in the front, and further apart in the back. The springs are parallel on the 55-59. I believe tha backing plates and the hubs will switch over from those years, but the I beams themselves are a no-go. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 29 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 29 | Center 2 center spring pack bolt not same? Also the inside diameter of the brake drums would help.
And pictures.

If they're the original drums they will be riveted to the hub with 3 big rivets so look close before you use a puller. If they're not the original drums you'll still see the ground off rivets on the hubs. I've got this setup on my 31 pickup with 52 car wheels. It's a cheap way to get 5x43/4 bolt pattern. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | I agree, 5x4.75 sure sounds like Chevy car stuff from those years.
