A little help for the electrically challenged please. My '40 currently has fender mounted parking lights. I want to add turn lights here rather than bumper mounted. I picked up some ( 2 ) terminal sockets which fit OK. I have wiring there for both parking and turn functions. Sockets are ( 2 ) wire type. I can get the parking lights to work, however, them seem very bright. Same for the signal lights if i use the ( 4 ) way flashers, however signals will not work with only the turn signal lever. Get a solid light on the left dash indicatior. Have I got my wires crossed somehow ? Is ground accomplished thru the metal housing/body, or do I need separate ground wire ? Thanks in advance Guys !!!

It does sound like the wires are switched, the park light shouldn't be as bright as the turn light. Usually, a solid light on the indicator would mean a burnt out bulb or too much resistance, like perhaps an open circuit.
On the gound, it does ground through the housinf/body, but sometmes if the paint os too thick or there's not enough good metal to metal contact, that will cause problems. I so no problem with installing a ground lead say from the housing mounting studs to a good chassis ground. I had to do that on mine. I ran a pair of ground wires to the same point that the headlamps are grounded to. That helped in my situation (slow flashing).
