A '52 big truck could have come with a "Loadmaster" splash-oiled 235. The casting number and date will tell. They should be located just above or slightly under the starter but there are exceptions.

thanx forthe replies frank &wally iguess ive gottado a bit more research into it...it does have 2 very big bolts in place of the 2left front headbolts like somesort of acc was hanging there like a comp. and there almost as high as the rocker cover. accy oil filter has big pipe fittings in&out and due to lack of space to steering box/col was clamped on column upside down!!! dont think itsa splash 235 cause its got a long shaft pump upfront &the rad top support isgone &rad is 2/3 in foward now eek eek eek

Big pipe fittings are a good sign. The only stovebolt that had that from the factory is the 261. A few blocks may have them but from the factory they are 1/2" for full flow oiling, so don't bypass that filter. You need to get the block casting numbers from behind the starter. You can also look for the captain's bars above it. Also look for a short pushrod cover (indicates 235/261) You can also try the head casting numbers.
