Disconnecting the cable from the tranny and hooking it to a drill it seems to work fine. It just dawned on me that the TF rotates counterclockwise. Does anyone know whether the Camaro drive gear is clockwise rotation or counterclockwise? Can I tell looking at it? Gear looks good and cable is new and operates the speedo from the transmission end when hooked to my drill. What holds the gear in the housing of the speedometer drive? It appears that there is a groove cut inside the housing, possibly for an o-ring. The gear on the shaft may have walked away from the opening. There is a clip in the shaft that holds it in place. If it,s ok see if the teeth are wallered down in the center.

My old gear was toast. The shaft was worn to half its original diameter next to the gear. Tranny guy theorized it allowed enough play for the gear to not mesh with the one inside the tranny. Will put it all together this evening and let you know. | | |
