The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Problems accessing forums

For some reason my primary computer will not allow access to the Stovebolt forums, :mad: which is why I have not been on in some time. Finally got on by route of a computer we don't normally use for the internet. Have tried everything short of a reformat and still keep getting a "cannot find server" error. I have given up. :confused:

If there are carburetor problems for which you wish my assistance, please either contact me direct, or I can (and do) access both Chevytalk and VCCA forums.

Jon, good to see you here again...I always look forward to your advice and insight. I've learned more about carbs from you than any book.

I get the same thing now when I log on(I use aol), but it gives me some other options to click on, you just seem to have to do it quick. Sounds dumb, but it seems to work for me, since typing stovebolt.com stopped working. I guess one of these days I'll have to bother Paul about it. Good luck and it's great to see you back!

There are 5 things to check before taking a whip to your electrons. They are in order:

Browser settings - make sure your security, privacy, & content settings are not impeding access.

Scan your system for Adware & remove - sometimes the insidious little boogers sneak in & throw switches that we can't see.

Firewall - you probably use software rather than hardware for this. Check the settings thru the admin interface to make sure that the site has not become blocked for some reason.

Router - sometimes the DNS firmware can bite the big one & the first indication is the inability to access certain sites (404 page not found error). Turn your router off for at least 30 seconds, re-energize & try again.

ISP - this is the last step but if none of the above work, call your ISP & report the problem. It may be his DNS server blocking or failing to update.

Hope that helps some, shipmate. One of these things is usually the cause of the 404 error when you know the page exists and is accessible by other computers.

It's been my observation here that the moderators will have to resort to blocking an ISP to rid the board of a trouble maker.This might be your situation,you may have the same ISP as a person blocked from using the forums.

Whatever it is, it is in my primary computer used for the internet. I can go to the shop computer (not normally used for internet) and access the site (same ISP, settings, etc.). Have tried deleting cookies, files, two different spyware deleting programs, internet settings, etc.

Will try to hit the site every couple of weeks or so from the other computer.
