Not bein a smart a$$,but i really dont think theres a difference. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 586 | As Delux54 states, the switch won't make a difference. The 6V switch is acually heavier gauge so that it can handle the extra amperage of a 6V. 12V = higher volts, lower amps. 6V = lower volts, higher amps. That resistor would be different for 12 V. If you use it for just off and on then there would be no problem. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . How many amps does the 12 volt motor draw at full load verses the number of amps the 6 volt motor drew at full load. The second thing would be more of a personal choice. Is the fan speed at the low and medium switch settings on the original switch acceptable to you?
My 12 volt replacement motor draws 3.8 amps at full load. Does anyone know how many amps the original 6 volt motors drew? I can safely use the original 6 volt switch if the motor drew 8 or more amps. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 92 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 92 | Thanks for the feedback, I am no electrical guy. | | |
