Hey everyone, my old '53 1-ton is now starting, driving, and braking! (see link below). With the help of the kind sages of Stove bolt, I replaced clutch disc, wheel cylinder, water pump, starter, etc and pulled this one back from the maw of the crusher. (looks pretty darn good with the new hubcaps in the last few pictures - see the '53 link below).
One final issue is starter noise AFTER the engine starts - it makes a heluva rattle for a few seconds until the starter engage gear slings back and then the rattling stops. This only began happening recently. Before, the rattling just went on and on while the engine ran. It's seems that now the starter gear, as it successfully retracts with some effort, is chewing at the flywheel teeth. This is clearly not good. I read the thread here:

Is this the right approach, and do-able without finding another starter? Where can I buy a "starter drive"? Is that what I need? Will a good cleaning, or oiling something, do the trick?
