Does anyone out there know if the Chevy visors (steel, non-adjustable, chrome edge trim) will fit on a '51 3100? Thanks!

Several vendors sell them... Jim Carter, Brothers, Classic Parts... these are very common.

Are you asking if a specific year's Chevrolet automobile's visor will fit a 1951 Chevrolet truck?

Is there really any such thing as a "Chevrolet visor"?
Theyre not "factory",,usually added by the dealer. Right?
Isnt it like the foglights and spotlights made by guide,but used on Chevrolets? I have one of the repro Fulton visors on my '52 suburban,very well made,fits perfect. Cant tell the diff. from a real Fulton,except the little 1 1/4" end caps.(thanks to Stovebolter Standonit).

I do not know about earlier years, but the exterior windshield visor was a GM accessory for 1954 Chevrolet trucks. There is no exterior sunvisor listed in the 1947 Chevrolet Truck Data Book

Fulton also sold an aftermarket sunvisor that had a divider in the middle. GMC trucks also had an GM exterior sunvisor in 1954 but I think it had slightly different mounting brackets than the one for Chevrolet trucks.

The 1951 Chevrolet Accessories Manual shows an exterior sunvisor for a car but no mention about one for a truck.

I'm looking at a couple of these one-piece steel visors, what I called a "Chevy" visor, they came off of Chevy cars with 2-piece windshields. I wondered if they would fit my truck. I believe the visor in the 1951 Car and Truck Accessories manual is the one I'm referring to. As you noted, it appears to be intended for cars only. I think the Chevy parts catalog indicates cars only as well. I didn't know there was a 1954 truck visor accessory. They had a 1-piece windshield, is that right? So I guess the visor wouldn't have a center bracket and would be attached only at the ends, so it should fit earlier AD trucks as well? I suppose the only real way to know if the car visors fit is to just hold them up to the truck. Thanks for your help!

Do a search on visors. I dimly recall that someone posted their experience in mounting a 47-52(?) GM car sunvisor on a split windshield Chevrolet A-D truck. I think they had to drill into the body but they got it to work.

db'51, I think maybe the visor You are thinking of, is like the
one I mounted on My 52 3104...I had a Fulton and didn't care for
it...The visor on My truck was used on 49 Chev. passenger cars and
up, that had split windshields...
I had to do a few modifications to get the visor to fit well..
I removed the top stainless steel molding completely, then I cut
roughly one inch off the top of the visor, then hammer formed the
center peak to match the peak on the truck roof, but it is a peak
that is only about 6 inches long that washes out...It was dealer
installed and not a Fulton...To mount it You must drill 3 holes
into the drip rail, then the center brkt. will mount to center w/s molding....Bill B

I checked out your photos--wow! what a beautiful truck! And I do like the look of your visor! Could I ask you a few questions about it? Did it have a chrome (stainless?) strip down the middle? I think I've seen some with the center strip and some without. Did it fit properly from end bracket to end bracket, or did you have to modify it somehow? How well did it fit next to the roof of the cab before you modified it and put in the peak? There's no way I'd be able to do what you did with the peak but hopefully it would fit OK without that? I've never looked at an installed Fulton up close but I would think that its straight lines and angles wouldn't fit very well against the rounded curve of the cab. Is that what you didn't like? Thanks for any help/advice you could share!

I did try a Fulton, but in My opinion, thought with the
roundness of the AD, the car visor retained the same lines making
it more acceptable...There was no stainless strip in the middle on
My visor...as I mentioned previously, the upper molding I removed
from the visor...Sorry to say, but the visor must have the peak in
the middle to clear the peak in Your roof...Perhaps You know a
bodyshop that could help You put a peak in it...Maybe a half hour
is all it took Me, but I will admit to making My living for 55 yrs.
as a body man....Oh, the little "Bowtie" on the visor, I made that
on a Bridgeport machine...Also contact Me anytime, I will help. BillB

Thanks for the info. My truck is just a giant box of parts in the garage so it will be quite awhile before I get around to actually working on a visor. In the meantime, I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal on that type of visor. Thanks again!

My 54 3100 came new with a Chevy visor and it has a bracket in the center. It seems to have a threaded plate or something behind the body sheet metal that the screws on both ends and the center screw into.
