Went to the part store well in fact called 7 and went to 3 to find a intake gasket for a Chevy 54 235. Does the 235 have an intake gasket? All I can find is the gasket for the exhaust and it comes with 7 holes.

The round holes are the intake holes. You should have a little round collar for each intake hole. These are normally reused, not supplied with the gaskets. | | |

There is a gasket that starts at either end, and one in the middle. There are three little rings and they fit into the head ports and into the intake manifold ports. | | |

Can you use the 216 on a 235?
I am having a hard time putting the thing back to geather.
The top of the exhaust gaskets are loose, you can move them with your fingers after tighting them up.
This thing was working with just one little hiss before I took the I/E manifold off.

The ports on a 235 are bigger so it is really a good idea to use a 235 set. You should be able to get one cheaply if you post an ad in the swap meet.

#34408 06/03/2003 12:10 AM | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | Get the 235 manifolds. The ports are bigger. You will also need to get the carb with them, mounting holes are different. Alignment rings are a must, too. They are bigger for the 235.
When I install the manifold gasket set, I use some ultra-copper sealant on the manifold side of the gaskets. Allow the sealant to cure for 24 hours before running the engine. This will usually eliminate any intake and exhaust leaks.
