Also....any idea where I can get some rims, just so I can get this beast off her tummy, adn roll her back and forth. The ones on it, well after 30 years are rusted in place...bolts and all.
I know i can buy tires from coker, 6.50-16 Nylons. But im having a heck of a time finding 6 lug rims.
ANy suggestions please.
(P.S.....I never really relized how expensive this restoration hobby is....IM GOING BALD!!)

As far as D.M.V. knows, your truck doesnt exist.
Keep the old title for sentimental reasons.
Go to DMV and tell em you just got the truck,lost the paperwork,and want to register it. When they run the plate number it'll come back "not on file".
Pay the fees,get it verified and youll be good to go.

Some of those wheels will be 14 or 15 inch, but they will do to roll it around until you get back on the road. Dodge Dakota 6-lug rims won't fit; the bolt pattern is too small.

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Most of the older Japanese truck rims will physicly bolt up (exept the D50, small 6 lug) however, they will cause the tire to rub the drag link on a left turn. The newer rims have way too much backspace, so it's the same problem as the new style GM rims, they'll hit the tie rods. Stick to a 3 1/2" backspace rime, pre-'87 1/2 ton 4x4 is a good bet.
