To begin with, this may not be the right forum. If not, I apologize. My speedometer was working. It has since stopped. New cable, so I don't think that is the issue. I do remember that a few eeks back, I was drilling a hole in the dash larger for a different size cable. I was near to the dash cluster and using an electric drill. As I drilled, the speedometer registered 30 mph or so. Is it possible that I 'degauzed" the magnets in the speedometer? If I messed it up, can I fix it, or should I just get another 56 Speedometer? Help!

doubt there's a connection, the speedo was registering the vibration of the drill, failure is purely coincidental . . . disconnect the cable at the speedo, drive the truck and see if the cable turns, if it doesn't, check the trans gear, if it does, pull the speedo and bench check it
