To advance the timing would I use the octane selector? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | Jim,
I would leave the octane selector at zero and add all the advance you think you want by loosening the holdown in the conventional manner.
Take your time and play with the timing until you get it to run exactly how you want. After you are satisfied you can fine tune it with the octane selector if you want.
This device is sort of handy, but with today's consistent gasoline, it's sort of a dinosaur from the bygone days. That's my take on it anyway.
