What do I need to do to my fuel and water guages when I convert to a 12 volt system ?
If I can't use them with 12 volt do they make repros that do run with 12 volt ? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,444 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,444 | Bowtie bits has rebuilt "stock" 12v gauges at a fairly reasonable price.

All you need is a simple "voltage reducer" (resistor) available from Jim Carter and a number of other suppliers.
The temp guage I believe is non-electrical, (capillary tube) and will need no modifications. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Id spend the little extra money and go with the Runtz voltage reducer as I had gauge gremlins with the regular reducer. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 33 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 33 | You might want to read the 12 volt conversion article under Tech Tips.
