Would it be ok to clean the area good and then put a bead of silicon sealant around the base of the tube, or should I removed the dipstick assembly and try another approach? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | Goop around the stick will not work at least i have found in my expierience . Only way i have ever found to remedy the problem is to remove the dipstick and replace the O-Ring seal add a generous amount of vasoline to the seal and take your time reinstaling it to make sure you dont tear it. On my project the tube was beat up and dented from PO , probabaly installin the motor an trans , any how i purchsed a replacement stick from Summitt it is a Hughes performance it was a bit pricey i thought but there Seal desighn on the end of tube is pretty much BULLETPROOF ! Just tossin out an Idea Tim | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 | I installed a billet aluminum dipstick unit from Lokar - picked it up on Ebay for $ 40.00 new. It has a rubber O Ring type seal - works well. | | |
