I'm looking for a Saginaw 2-ring(3.11 1st) 4 speed for the GMC and after calling the few local junkyards and local tranny shops, I can't seem to find one for less than $250.00!(and that is not even rebuilt!) After searching the posts here and reading the patricks catalog, it sounds like $100.00 is the going price. Have they become harder to find or am I not looking in the right spots. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

In fact there are quite a few on there now. Do a general search using the words "saginaw", "4 speed" and "transmission" see how many returns you get.
BTW, the 125-175 is a non-rebuilt price too.

Click on "Transmissions and Rearends" and then on "3.1". www.nastyz28.com/transid.html Good luck with your hunt. Denny

A tranny shop or junkyard will charge what the traffic will bear. They see $$ signs when somebody calls looking for a 30 year old transmission. Don't be in a hurry. Forget Ebay, it's hardly the place to buy a transmission. Visit old junkyards and repair shops, swap meets, ask questions, learn something, make contacts and shop around.
