Web sites show it at as a 60's when it clearly is a 48-53 model by the looks of the grill. The number on the plate at the door is 253 22 P 6264. Owner is trying to come up with the paperwork. HELP! TY for the info I had some of it figured, such as the engine, I thought the P stood for Panel. The S/N still confuses me. According to the site I found the 6264 # puts it as a 51 but it looks like the 253 was not made until 52? How did you come with the 5264 #? Jim, Lassentrucks. The serial numbers are in the right column. The serial numbers started at 1001, for each series. So, the first truck/chassis? off the line for the 252-23 series was number 1001, and the first truck/chassis? off the line for the 252-22 series also started at 1001 (as I stated above, I think this is how the information in the table is interpreted). My opinion is simply an interpretation of the pages out of a GMC Master Parts Book. It you want a more knowledgeable answer, go to the oldGMCtrucks discussion board.
