If so, where can I get one?
I'm trying to put a 250 into my 1946 3800 (1 ton). I've got a good 250 out of a 70's Nova. The '46 is running a rattley 1956 235 right now. I know I could rebuild the 235, but I'd like to have the durability of the newer 250.
Thanks, Carolyn

You will have to make new side motor mounts for the 250, new mounts for a more modern trans etc etc, LOTS OF WORK! It can be done if that's what you really want, much simpler to rebuild that 235. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 37 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 37 | A v8 belhousing from a late '50s or early '60s truck will bolt up to the 250. It will not be a bolt up to the '46 crossmember. However if you can do a little fabrication you can probably make it work.
I bolted a v8 into a '48 pickup with that bellhousing by using a '54 crossmember. I don't know how close a '54 crossmember would be to what you have now.
Of course you would have to build side motor mounts for the front. I agree, rebuilding the 235 would be easier. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | There was a transmission change in '48 and if I remember correctly the earlier one does not fit a later transmission. That would create a challenge in your situation.
