Can anyone advise me of what problems I will run into? Thanks | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 | The door latches are the only thing different. Make sure you have the regulators for the 50 doors also. And the window frames and lower channels. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 16 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 16 | | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 25 | The strickers are differant to, need to put on 1950 strickers in place of the 54's. Like wilbur stated about the latches. Its just a little sheet metal work to change the latch opening and holes for the handle. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 1 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 1 | Smittys54, my 53 has a set of earlier doors on the cab. Everything seems to work fine as mentioned in the previous posts. Clearances and hardware works fine too. At one time I questioned about changing the hardware out, but i believe the door handles are reversed in push buttons. (however i think you can change the glass to the previous style.) I noticed you're not too far from Joplin. I have 4 earlier style doors ( two im willing to trade) for yours if you decide to go that path. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 | is the inside window trim thinner on the older style doors. i have installed the older style channels\track and felt channel on a 54 door to allow for the full size glass. now the inside trim woun't go in place properly.is the older trim thinner.

Not as wide. What I did was, I picked up some closed cell foam for the hardware store and put it on the inside of the int. trim to take up the difference. Also helps to stabilize everything. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 | my problem is that the channel is to wide, the old glass with the metal strip on it rides up and down fine in the new channel. wonder if i have the right channel.i picked it up from a guy who had it given to him with the 54 chevy he purchased last summer. he thought it was for her.

Maybe someone with both to look at will respond/correct. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 | The only different is, the vented ones had a notch for the channel. Other than that their the same width. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 | yes to the notch in them. I have just discovered that the window garnish on the 47\51 door is 1\4" narrower than the 52\54.i guess it would have to be to allow for the trim on the glass. any thoughts or can anybody verify this.
