I'm thinking about using a set of 1950 doors on my 1954 chevy. Can anyone advise me of what problems I will run into?
Thanks

The door latches are the only thing different.
Make sure you have the regulators for the 50 doors also. And the window frames and lower channels.

One more thing would be the door handles, '50 had turn downs and '54 has push button. Like wilbur stated about the latches. Its just a little sheet metal work to change the latch opening and holes for the handle.

Smittys54, my 53 has a set of earlier doors on the cab. Everything seems to work fine as mentioned in the previous posts. Clearances and hardware works fine too. At one time I questioned about changing the hardware out, but i believe the door handles are reversed in push buttons. (however i think you can change the glass to the previous style.) I noticed you're not too far from Joplin. I have 4 earlier style doors ( two im willing to trade) for yours if you decide to go that path.

is the inside window trim thinner on the older style doors. i have installed the older style channels\track and felt channel on a 54 door to allow for the full size glass. now the inside trim woun't go in place properly.is the older trim thinner.

Lenny,
The inside trim is the same on all of them. The difference is in the new channel and glass. Not as wide.
What I did was, I picked up some closed cell foam for the hardware store and put it on the inside of the int. trim to take up the difference. Also helps to stabilize everything.

my problem is that the channel is to wide, the old glass with the metal strip on it rides up and down fine in the new channel. wonder if i have the right channel.i picked it up from a guy who had it given to him with the 54 chevy he purchased last summer. he thought it was for her.

I think the inside trim (garnish molding) is different for vented vs non-vented windows.

Maybe someone with both to look at will respond/correct.

The only different is, the vented ones had a notch for the channel. Other than that their the same width.

yes to the notch in them. I have just discovered that the window garnish on the 47\51 door is 1\4" narrower than the 52\54.i guess it would have to be to allow for the trim on the glass. any thoughts or can anybody verify this.
