Got a quick question regarding the bed angle strips for a 54. We are grafting our 54 onto an S-10 frame, but our rear bed angle strips are so badly rusted and the bolt holes are so wallowed out that we don't know the ACUAL distance between the bolt holes that go through the bed so we can correctly place our supports below.
We are going to purchase and replace the bed anlge strips in the near future, but until then I would like to get the true measurements so we can weld down our bed supports.
Would anyone happen to know the actual spacing of the holes on the '54 angle strips, going from the front hole to the back?

I have '51 1/2T 9 board bed but don't know that they are the same as your '54? Would be Friday before I can measure.

Since you are putting the bed on a new frame anyway, there may be a better place to position the cross sills on the new frame than the old original locations. The kickup over the axle is a lot different on a S-10 than the original 54. it would probably interfere with the cross sill locations. We recommend test fitting the bed assembly to the new frame and choosing the best cross sill locations from there. Order custom strips and angles once you get the dimensions worked out.

We ordered the S-10 kit from AD-Engineering, so they've already created bed brackets that clear the stock S-10 frame bends. Let me find some of the bed stips and see if any of them have a clear enough bolt pattern to make them usable. The bed in this truck was abused quite a bit, since it was a farm truck. It came with a haphard steel plate welded right ontop of the rotting wood. | | |
