Can any one tell me which way the front motor mount goes? I'm puting a front mount in my 50 chev, the motor that is in there is out of a car. The person who installed it,put in side mounts. Can any one tell me which way the rubber goes? Cuts or slits down or up. Does the motor just sit on the steel shield? What size bolts go in the mount 1/2 or 3/8 thanks.

I'm not near it right now but could post some pictures later.

There is a steel trough that the rubber goes into - slots up, then a steel plate on top of that with two square holes. There are two carriage bolts that go down into the crossmember (I believe they are 3/8 fine thread) from the flat plate. On top of all this is the thin sheetmetal cover with two 7/16 carriage bolts that go down through the motor mount plate that bolts to the front of the engine.

If your carriage bolts are chewed up you won't find any grade 5 or 8 fine thread. I had to make my own by cutting down larger ones and rethreading. Search the archives for "motor mount bolts" in the last month.

The assembly manual has a good picture but my copy is very poor on that page.

Paul i just read your post down the page, thanks it help me alot. I have one problem i have to drill the holes in my motor so i can mount it.Would you drill 7/16 Holes? And i have to run the bolts up from the bottom.
