My question here is will my shifting rods line up. I'm going to pick it up this weekend. Remember now I'm drivig the ol'55 pick up. There bothe 3 on the tree. The original is on my bench all apart and looks like there is a lot of rust in it, along with some shabby looking bearings etc. etc. Any way I can't beat the price on the 69' 3 speed $10.00.. i have a '55 2nd that has been converted to a mystery 3 speed shifter on the floor. (still has the column shifter box on it but no rods)
i also have all the parts from a 68 three speed and column shift.
i tried to take the rods from the 68 and make them work on the 55. no go from 68 to 55. (location of shift box on column is different) but i am not sure if your current shift rods could be reworked to fit the 69 trans. the biggest concern would be where they mount up to the tranny.

Basically the 69' 3 speed trans I picked up ain't going to work. SHUX. I'll go ahead and rebuild the original that came with the truck.I do have one question with all the parts on the bench cleaned up,the bearing nut and oil slinger is without any internal threads to screw on to thethe clutch gear. I've been looking at some later model trans, and they don't even have this part at all. There g. m. 3and 4 speeds with only a snap ring on the front bearing just aft of the oil slinger.Is this part really needed? :confused: | | |

I am new to this board, and I welcome the opportunity to seek advice from its members, who graciously share their expertise with others.
I am considering replacing the stock 3 speed transmission in my '50 AD 1/2 ton with an open drive 3 speed. Does anyone know if a '55 or later Chevy 3 speed truck and/or car transmission will bolt in and function properly with the existing linkage? Thanks
