alright, now, to begin with, are 3 speed and 3 speed overdive trannies the same length? like, with the driveshaft length, etc etc.

and, hypotheticaally speaking, would the tail shaft & housing, bolt up to a 4 speed, like sm-420/sm-465, what have you, and work?

just something that has been on my mind lately.

1969 K20 , with a '67 front clip. fleetside. 292, 3x1 offy, headers. sm465 4spd. getting put back together, almost ready for paint.
doing it all myself.

it will bolt to a four speed saginal if you drill a hole.

But the SM420 isn't a Saginaw, is it? Question is, will it bolt to the SM420/SM465.

I read that the 3 speed O/D will bolt to the Saginaw 4 speed but our 4 speeds are usually Muncie SM units, aren't they?

The Saginaw car 4-speeds and the Muncie SM420 are VERY different animals.
