on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 92 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 92 | I just got my new motor mounts in from Carter's today. I was a little suprised to see that they were from India. Not only that, they do not have the spacer that goes all the way through the rear transmission mount to the lower mount. The front mount is just the rubber, not the metal cover that was on the original.
Question: Can I dig out the rubber from inside the metal cover of the original front mount and then insert the new rubber? Also, my maintenance manual shows a lower rubber piece that goes below the front cross member. I did not receive one with the mount from Carter's and I cant find anything like that from when I removed the engine in the first place.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Your mount and shield should be able to be separated fairly easy. The lower piece of rubber should be replaced as well. I need to find the same piece but haven`t looked yet
