(It was doing this occasionally earlier last summer, then quit, now it's really bad) When it does this I literally can't go forward. But, if I put it in reverse, back up several feet then, pop it into drive without touching the brake it "pops" kinda loud then (usually) lets go. I don't see a broken return springor anything like that.
Ideas?!
Could it be the wheel cyl? The master cyl.? The Proportioning valve? The power booster? How to check?
I had this same problem on my '51 1/2 ton a few years ago and it turned out to be the master cyl. But, of course that has a single well master cyl. | | |
#29970 02/06/2004 11:23 PM | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | Do you have grease or oil on the brake shoes from a faulty grease seal? Or a leaky brake cylinder? Both of those will cause the brake to stick and lock up.
Another thing that can happen is grooves worn in the backing plate from shoe activity.
