Got it torn down to discover insert bearings and .040 over size pistons / sleeved cylinders. I had ordered (Jim Carter - STD)rod bearings prior to tear down. Discovered that I needed .010 undersize bearings. Jim Carter did have in stock - ordered from Kanter's and rec'd completely different bearing set for the 216. Lube hole in wrong place (no machined oil groove)and not as wide as replacement set from Carters. Could I have a 216 with (1954)235 connecting rods? Hard to follow up on Previous Owner info. I will leave better records of what I do on this truck. A promise. BW | | |

However, if the hole is elongated, it is a dipper type insert. The inserts for regular rods are thicker. The dipper inserts are thinner because they take metal off an existing rod design and they don't want to weaken it. I would think that there should be a center groove in the inserts. | | |
