Always start with the basics: Fuel, Compression, Spark. Work from there.
The old motors are forgiving and will let you know what is wrong.

First check your dstributor.
It happened to me more than one time when I had the dizy out. I was always 100% sure I did it the right way.

The tricky thing is if you check for spark you will see spark but you have it at the wrong time (exhaust cicle instead of power strock).

Replug the wires 180 degrees and give it a try. That solves the problem in most cases grin

If it works keep it that way or pull the dizzy again and turn the shaft 180 degrees bevore you put it back.

I apologise for not geting back sooner. I got a sick kid , he hasn't been sleeping much at night, so I havn't been able to get back to the truck. I checked to make sure I was geting fule. she backfired through the carb twice so I think I am geting spark.. I am going back out to check for sure.

Bart,

Recheck the set on the distrib, re-gap your points, check the basics like cap, rotor...If you did not change plugs, do so...when I was trying to start mine, the middle of the plugs had corroded. They looked great on the outside, but I broke the top off one taking it out and found out the plugs were junk. I would have never got them to spark.

Like listed above...just go back over the basics....
