Hello to everybody .What is happening, is my 283 motor is not running so hot. I think it could be a lot better.The motor hesitates bad on take off hot or cold. I tried moving distributor adjusting carb doesn't help.Would appreciate any help thanks! | | |

#29632 06/08/2003 4:40 PM | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 140 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 140 | Hesitation on acceleration is *usually* a lean condition. If it's about the same whether hot or cold, I'd check the accel pump first, as another 'Bolter suggested.
Second, look for vacuum leaks. Actually, maybe do that first. 8-) Got a Mityvac or similar? Check every hose and line. Then do the spray-while-running (w/ carb cleaner), listen for RPM changes.
Third, carefully dismantle and clean the carb. Check it for airleaks around the butterfly bores.
