My '54 tends to run a little warm when climbing hills and also after driving a bit on the freeway, when I exit, temp climbs with the decrease in airflow across the front.
It's got a new radiator, brass, non stock so the old shroud no longer fits. Installed an 18" metal flex fan which has helped and one of these days I'll get around to making a shroud. Just wondering if an aux. cooler may help keep temps more consistent. Or maybe aux. cooler in conjunction with electric fan.

Go to picapart and get a shroud.......Fit it and fill the daylight seams with spray foam from Homeless depot
You can also use the foam to fill inside the shroud if you thing it's too hollow
Start the engine only after it sets up!!!!!!
The fan will clearence itself MAKE SURE THE AIR CLEANER IS TIGHT AND MASK OFF THE FRONT SO THE FOAM DOESN'T MUSS IT | | |

If things don't change, I'll try an electric fan.

If the fan doesn't reach the shroud, or is all the way inside, it won't flow air properly.

I started measuring today and coming up with the design in my head (how all my fabrication gets done). I've got some 20 gauge steel I'm using. I used the shear and brake at work to make the cuts and bends tonight and hopefully will weld tomorrow. The fan will be halfway inside the shroud.

I was talking about the entire air intake area in the front not just around the rad and shroud. You wanna make sure the air goes thru the over the front .... under the front or thru the rad not around it | | |

I'm 1/2 of the way there already. I mounted the new radiator (which is just a bit smaller than original) further back so I wouldn't have to use such a long fan spacer. So I've got 3"x20" vertical 12 gauge running up the sides that the rad. is mounted to. Just need to add a horizontal top and bottom piece to have a 3" wide front air catcher.
I'll use aircraft sealant for any daylight. That stuff doesn't come off when our jets are flying 200, 300 knots and lasts a pretty long time.
