Cable?, tranny gear, Speedo? any help would be great. I'm new to restoration but My Dad bought the truck new, I learned to drive in it, and I'll do what it takes to keep it on the road.

Disconnect at the tranny and you can pull the cable out of the housing. If it's frayed or twisted, replace it. If it's dry, grease it. I usually recommend the graphite based speedo cable grease, but you're far enough south to use a lithium or moly lube.

#28856 11/04/2003 7:25 AM | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 23 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 23 | My 53 3/4 ton's spedo needle started jumping up and down 10 MPH or so..After changing the cable...then the housing and cable...then the lower gear I found the odometer drum in the head was sticking..Got a 64 Chevelle doing the same thing...It's odometer has quit all together.....
