Hello, I finally took my rocker arms off the shelf and took a better look at them. Turns out there are 12, not 6 rocker arms. Also, the instructions say they are for powerglide cars with hydraulic lifters. Why would there be rocker arms for exhaust valves, too? Thanks.

Chad

More intake lift more torque
More intake duration more torque

Are you going to ask me why the intake valve is larger than the exhaust?

Actually, i was asking why the exhaust valve would need a high lift rocker?

Kinda something about common sense. If you let more in, ya gotta let more out.

I think all the old hi-lift rocker arms I have are in sets of 6 for the intakes only. Usually 3 lefts and 3 rights. Thomas musta really been goin' after some air flow!

Barry, thats why I was asking. All the Fentons, B&B, Barker, etc. I have seen are only for the intake. Thats why I was curious why Thomas had rockers for the intakes AND exhausts. Did they know something these other companies didn't!? J.H. and dabond, I apologize if it was a stupid question, must be tough being perfect.

Are you sure the exhaust is the same ratio as the intake? Maybe they sold them as a set and the exhaust are better than stock but with same ratio.

That's very possible Joe. Maybe even due to the lighter weight of the magnesium they wanted to keep them all the same, whether they were stock ratio exhausts and hi-lift intakes or not. I have at least 3 sets of hi-lift rockers for the intakes here, but they are also all cast (or probably forged) like the originals. So they look just like a stocker (and weigh the same), but have a slightly different ratio. So instead of having (6) steel rockers and (6) magnesium rockers, Thomas made them all the same.

Yea, that sounds about right. Having half magnesium and half cast would look kinda stupid. Thanks guys.
