The engine is a 1955, 235ci.
What I am not sure about is the direction the oil is flowing thru the filter.
I have the oil line at the top part of the filter canister going to the orfice closer to the back of the engine and the oil line comeing from the bottom of the filter canister going to the orfice closer to the front and a little lower.
Does anyone know if the oil flows from the front orfice to the back orfice or visa versa.. :rolleyes: ..Help

My lines were reversed and for about 15 years they ran fine. I found another truck and another and the lines were as described above. Top of filter to rear hole etc. I reversed mine to what I thought was the right way and nothing changed except I found my oil pressure dropped at idle! I even had the diagram of the routing sent via one of these posts and it proved mine was wrong for all those years. When I pulled the pan I noted the routing from the pump to the op gauge and the filter. So what happens is the oil is pumped thru the filter (not a high percentage however) and is dumped via the bottom of the cannister to the front port and into the oil pan. Still can't figure what happened to cause the drop in oil pressure, though. Nothing else was touched. | | |
