The bellhousing and transmission I'm not sure. The transmissions may not have even been painted, left their natural cast iron color. They do make a cast iron paint that is very nice. | | |

Here is a pretty good compilation of Chevy engine colors: http://www.danroy.com/ Go to this link and scroll down to Tailgate eTalk. My bet is that 1954 and newer car 235 engines were blue (of "Blue Flame 6" fame) and truck 235 engines were gray (but the 1960 and upwards 235 trucks' supposed blue-gray color is real pretty). My guess is that the bell housing and transmission were "natural". This topic is a lot like religion - it takes faith to truly believe what you think you know (and, be careful questionning other peoples' faith). Tim | | |

That link did not work for me this morning on my office machine. I have changed the link above and it should now work - but, you might have to try it a couple of times (after I have cleared my browser's cache I have trouble loading the link on the first try). Once the link is in my brower's cache, I can bookmark it and have no problem going to it. Maybe someone can explain this phenomenon.
