I have a 54 3100 1/2 ton that someone before me took out every piece of the parking brake assembly. I would like to know if anyone has done a retrofit or if there is a universal type parking brake I could use rather than try to piece a stock one back togather. I also have a 84 trans am disc brake rear end in her. Thanks in advance. Awesome site and helpful tips.

Hmmm, i'm in the EXACT same boat as you, except with a 9" rear...and my safety inspection is due next month.

JMO, the simplest/most logical solution is LOKAR everything, from floor-mounted emergency brake($70), to complete cable assembly($79), from brake handle to rear brake shoes.

of course, hard-headed me, in order to keep the floor clear, is trying to locate either a 1997 Saab(swedish car) brake handle, or a chevy vega brake handle...onto the ledge, between the driver's door, and the seat.

for me, the original hand brake is not an option, because of the camaro subframe, and because every piece of the handbrake system was eliminated...just like yours.

FWIW, if i have too much difficulty installing the side-mounted brake handle and cables, i'll go for the tried-and-true LOKAR system...on the floor.

I grabbed a standard GM suspended E-brake operator and cable from a 70's? chevy car (chevelle laguna) and bolted it to the inner cowl / firewall / dash right where the old e-brake was removed from. Re-used the original E-brake handle and lower dash bracket to retain somewhat of a stock look. Set it up just like a camaro/firebird as I was using a firebird rearend.
