I've been wanting to add overdrive.
Assuming it works ok, what's a fair price? I'm in California if it matters.

The side cover with the shifting forks was missing. I still thought it was a fair price. Gonna put it in my 52 3/4 ton. | | |

Prices ranged from $300 to $125. Oddly enough, the best one cost the least, I think I caught the seller at a good time. Just make sure you get the solenoids that come with the trans. | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 55 Member | Member Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 55 | Thanks for the input.
I offered the guy $250. Haven't gotten an answer yet.
Sounds like a lot but these OD transmissions are not that easy to find.

He doesn't have the solenoid (very hard to find) and says the opening where it goes is "plugged" with something. He told me he wants to get $450 for just the tranny. I just bought a 1957 "R10H-1A" Borg Warner OD complete with harness, govenor and solenoid in south San Francisco today for $150. Pulled the side cover and it look like new.

If you can wait, you can find a complete unit including solenoid, switch and harness for less than two hundred or if you just gotta buy it I've seen them go for three hundred without all the other stuff. I have several and plan on using them on my fleet, I've picked up parts on ebay occasionally cheap. If you can get it reasonably complete, two fifty isn't bad, at least you will have it! I think I have seen a post here, that talks about setting one of these up without all the original parts. | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,254 | I bought my OD transmission for $100. It came with the Solenoid and Governor. I didn't want to bypass the other electrical components so I searched around and found the relay, kickdown switch, and kickdown switch bracket. I bought the wire harness from Jim Carter.
All in all, I think I paid about $200 for the whole set up.
