Truck came with the NO free play in the clutch pedal and lots of squalling noises coming from the bottom end with the engine running and the clutch depressed. Throwout bearing right? Wrong. We replaced it this afternoon, inspected the clutch, greased the release arm pivot point, adjusted the clutch and voila! Same noise.
Sounds like something rubbing on sheet metal, very similar to a problem on another vehicle a couple of years ago when the outer ring of the harmonic balancer slid back into the timing cover.
Noise only appears with engine running and the clutch depressed. Let it up and it goes away.
We're looking for ideas on what to check next, any help, ideas or wild guesses appreciated.

Perhaps it was more of a rattling noise...... only happened when clutch was fully depressed . | | |

I also just read in the service manual how to replace the clutch springs that cause the rattle and that's a possibility to.
It's wet, windy and cool here today so me getting out there and crawling under it is a possiblity, but not a probability
Thanks for the input. I'll keep you posted on what we find when it dries out and warms up.
