The fan will spin by itself with the pulley stationary. It is charging ok. I have another generator at home, so I can look tonight, but is the generator fan keyed to the shaft or the pulley, or how is it attached? I need to be able to drive home and don't want to lose a fan belt. | | |

Check the pulley nut, and I'll bet you find it's loosened up a little. Tighten it before you drive anywhere, at least a little, or you're likely to lose the nut and lockwasher, and possibly the pulley.
